Some Basic Info On the House’s Healthcare Reform Bill
Well needless to say there’s a lot going on in the healthcare arena lately. In case you missed it, the House of Representatives released their healthcare bill last week. I’m planning on writing up my analysis of it but unfortunately I’ve got midterms early next week so you’ll all have to wait a week or so for that. But in the meantime I thought I’d provide some basic information about what the bill contains since I’ve had several people recently express frustration to me that they don’t know where to get an objective description of the contents of the bill. So I’ve provided some helpful links after the jump.
The text of the bill can be found here:

Its 1018 pages. So they have prepared summary sheets of the most important points, broken down by topic:

And finally, here’s the CBO’s (Congressional Budget Office) analysis of the bill. They’re a non-partisan research organization that does forecasting for congress:

Health care in America is worse then a Russian bread line from 1980, the difference being that more people could afford bread then health insurance in America.

Health reform has been reduced to a dream, like the electric car, or baseball without steriods. It is doubtful we will see any reform in the next few years, and yet health care costs will continue to make access to health insurance more exclusive to the rich.

The thing I’m curious about about the Obama plan is this segment about pre-existing conditions… Is there any stuff in the bill about wether or not there is a limit on what insurance plans can require if you have a pre-existing problem?
